What you’re actually paying for
A DSTV installation price is really three things bundled together: the hardware (dish, LNB, decoder, brackets, cable and connectors), the labour to mount and align everything, and the skill to do it so it lasts. The cheapest quotes usually cut the third one — and that’s the part you only notice six months later when the signal drops in the first big Winelands storm. A few things legitimately move a quote higher. Double-storey or roof-mounted dishes need more time and safety gear. Long cable runs to a TV point at the far end of the house use more RG6 and more labour. Face-brick or stone walls — common on Franschhoek’s older properties and wine estates — take longer to drill and fix cleanly. And if your existing dish is corroded or the bracket is rusted through, replacing it properly costs more than bodging the old one, but it’s the difference between a five-year install and a five-month one.
New install, relocation or repair — they’re priced differently
