Commercial DSTV Installation in Franschhoek

Commercial DSTV for Winelands wine estates, guesthouses, hotels, restaurants, bars, lodges, offices and retail spaces. Multi-room signal distribution, commercial-grade decoders licensed for public display, neat cabling through trunking, and maintenance support for venues that need someone on call.

Commercial DSTV Installation

Wine estates, guesthouses, restaurants, lodges, offices and retail across Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl all rely on DSTV for sport, news and guest entertainment. We install, upgrade and maintain commercial DSTV systems: multi-room signal distribution, commercial decoders, neat cable runs and the right hardware for high-traffic venues.

Who we install commercial DSTV for

The most common commercial customers in the Winelands are guesthouses and B&Bs (one decoder per room, or a central system with in-room TVs), restaurants and bars (multiple TVs around the venue all showing the same big match), wine estate tasting rooms and lodges (one or two screens for guest waiting areas), doctors' rooms and waiting areas (a single quiet decoder for visitor entertainment), and offices (reception or boardroom screens). Each has a different hardware mix: we walk the venue with you and quote the cleanest setup for the use case.

If you're a multi-unit complex with a shared dish needed across many apartments, see our communal DSTV installation service instead. For Extra View across just 2-3 TVs in a small business or family home, our XtraView setup is usually a better fit.

What's included in a commercial install

A commercial DSTV install typically includes: commercial-grade dish + LNB sized for the number of decoders you need; signal distribution via amplifier or splitter to multiple TV points around the venue; commercial decoders licensed to MultiChoice's commercial subscription rates (so you're legal to display in a public space); cabling and TV points run through trunking or in-ceiling channels so the venue stays presentable; HDMI or AV connections to each TV with the correct cable runs; and full signal testing + channel scan on every screen before sign-off.

For a wine farm tasting room or a restaurant with multiple TVs, we usually recommend one commercial decoder per zone (so different rooms can show different content) plus distribution amplifiers to keep the picture crisp across all the TV points.

Maintenance, upgrades and quick callouts

Commercial DSTV systems get knocked around, staff change cables, kids move chairs into the wrong corner, storms shift dishes, decoders need software updates. We offer maintenance support for venues that need someone on call when the rugby Saturday goes wrong. Same-day call-outs across the Winelands (subject to availability), neat replacements of failing kit, and decoder firmware updates when MultiChoice rolls them out.

If you're a new venue without DSTV yet, we'll start with a full new install and build the commercial system from there. To book a venue visit and free quote, request one here or call 079 754 5527.

What affects the cost of a commercial DStv installation

Commercial work is quoted per site, because the number of screens and the way the building is laid out matter far more than the equipment list.

Number of screens

A restaurant with four screens and a lodge with thirty are different projects. Cost scales with points, distribution hardware and cable, not linearly with screens alone.

Distribution method

Feeding many screens from one source needs proper distribution. What suits a small bar is not what suits a hotel with rooms on several floors.

Commercial subscription

Businesses showing DStv publicly need the correct commercial subscription. We install; the licensing side sits with MultiChoice and needs to be right.

Building layout and cable runs

Thick walls, multiple floors, outbuildings and heritage restrictions all drive the cabling effort, which is usually the biggest line item.

Screens and mounting

Wall mounting, ceiling mounts, outdoor-rated screens for patios and weatherproof enclosures all add to the scope.

Operating hours

Work that has to happen outside trading hours, or in phases so the business keeps running, takes longer to schedule and execute.

We do a free site survey for commercial jobs and quote against a written scope, so you can compare like with like. Guesthouses and wine estates often also want WiFi coverage and CCTV looked at in the same visit.

What we are usually called in to fix

Commercial callouts tend to be the result of a system that grew screen by screen without a plan behind it.

  • Screens added over the years off a chain of cheap splitters, so signal degrades down the line
  • One decoder informally feeding a whole venue, which is neither reliable nor correctly licensed
  • No labelling or documentation, so any fault takes hours to trace
  • Cabling run without containment and damaged during other building work
  • Guest rooms where some screens work and others have never been right since handover
  • Outdoor and patio screens failing early because they were never rated for the position

How a commercial project runs

  1. Site survey. We walk the property, count points, look at the building fabric and understand how the venue actually operates.
  2. Written scope and quote. You get a documented scope covering equipment, distribution, cabling and screens, with the price against it.
  3. Phased installation. Work planned around your trading hours so the venue keeps running, with sections commissioned as they are completed.
  4. Distribution built properly. Head-end equipment installed in a sensible, ventilated, accessible position rather than wherever there was space.
  5. Every point tested and labelled. Each screen metered and signed off, and the installation labelled so future faults take minutes to find.
  6. Handover and support. Staff shown the basics, documentation left on site, and a support arrangement agreed if you want one.

Typical timeline: a small venue is often a single day. Larger lodges, estates and multi-storey properties are usually phased across several days and quoted accordingly.
