A complete OpenView installation
OpenView is a subscription-free satellite television platform, but it still depends on a sound physical installation. We assess the property, identify a clear line of sight, mount or inspect the dish, align it accurately, run suitable coaxial cable and connect the decoder. The completed system is tested across available channels before handover.
New setups and conversions
If a property already has satellite equipment, we check whether the dish, bracket, LNB and cabling can be reused safely. Existing hardware is not automatically suitable just because it looks intact. Corrosion, water-damaged connectors, poor alignment and old cable can cause intermittent reception that only becomes obvious in bad weather.

What affects the cost of an OpenView installation
OpenView has no monthly subscription, so the installation is the main cost. What you already have on the roof decides how big that is.
Whether you have a dish
OpenView broadcasts from a different satellite to DStv. An existing dish can sometimes be reused, but it has to be realigned and often needs a different LNB.
Decoder supplied or your own
We can install a decoder you have already bought, or supply one. Retail prices vary, which is why we quote the installation separately.
Dish position and line of sight
OpenView needs its own clear line of sight. If the existing dish position does not work for the new satellite, the dish has to move.
Cable run
Distance from dish to TV point drives materials and labour, particularly on farms and larger properties where runs get long.
Number of TVs
Each additional TV needs its own decoder and its own feed. There is no shared-subscription equivalent to XtraView on OpenView.
Access and mounting
Roof height, wall material and ladder access affect time on site in exactly the same way as a DStv installation.

- Assess what you have. We check whether the existing dish and LNB can be reused for OpenView or whether they need changing.
- Dish aligned to the right satellite. OpenView uses a different satellite to DStv, so this is a fresh alignment done on a meter, not a small adjustment.
- Cable run and TV point. Coax run neatly through trunking and terminated at the TV position.
- Decoder connected and activated. Connected over HDMI, powered, and taken through activation so the channels actually unlock.
- Full channel scan. We scan and confirm the full OpenView channel list is loading.
- Handover. We show you how to rescan when channels change, since OpenView updates its lineup from time to time.
Typical time on site: a fresh OpenView installation is usually two to three hours. Reusing an existing dish that only needs realignment and a decoder setup can often be done in about an hour.
