Starlink Installation Franschhoek & Winelands
Professional Starlink mounting and setup for homes, farms and wine estates across Franschhoek and the Winelands, proper roof or pole mounting, tidy cable runs, sensible router placement and mesh WiFi where one access point won't reach.
Why a professional install is worth it
Anyone can unbox a Starlink kit and stand the dish on the lawn for an afternoon, and it'll work well enough to prove the point. Living with it long-term is a different story. A dish left on a paver or propped against a wall moves in the wind, gets knocked by garden furniture, and eventually loses its lock on the satellite at the worst possible moment. A proper install fixes the mount permanently, routes the cable somewhere it won't get chewed by a hosepipe or a dog, and puts the router where the WiFi signal can actually do its job.
Roof and pole mounting done properly
Franschhoek and Winelands properties are rarely simple rectangles: think thatch roofs, gabled farmhouses, boundary walls and mature trees that block half the sky. We start by checking sky visibility with Starlink's own obstruction data plus a physical look at the roofline, then choose between a roof mount, a wall-mounted arm or a freestanding pole depending on what gives the cleanest, most stable line of sight. Whichever mount we use, it's rated for Cape wind and fixed so it isn't shifting six months from now.
Cable runs and router placement
The cable from dish to router is the part people underestimate. Left loose, it flaps in the wind, sags into gutters, or gets left exposed along a wall where UV eventually cracks the sheathing. We plan a route that's protected, weatherproofed at every entry point, and long enough to reach a router position that actually serves the house: not just the nearest plug point to where the cable happens to come through the wall.
Mesh WiFi across the whole property
The router that ships with Starlink is fine for an apartment. It is not going to reach a cottage forty metres from the main house, or push through two sets of thick stone walls on an old farmhouse. Where that's the case, we add mesh access points positioned to cover guest rooms, outbuildings, the pool deck or a cellar tasting room, so the connection that reaches your gate is the same one reaching the far bedroom.
Built to keep working through load-shedding
A Starlink dish and router draw enough power that they won't ride through an outage on their own, which defeats half the point of having a connection that doesn't depend on a fixed line. We can size and wire in a UPS for the dish and router so the internet stays up when the grid doesn't: genuinely useful for anyone running a business, a booking system or a security setup from home.
DSTV and Starlink combo installs
A lot of our Starlink bookings come in alongside a DSTV job, and it makes sense to do both on the same visit: one call-out, one technician, two dishes mounted properly and cabled back to a tidy setup indoors. If you're getting Starlink in for internet and still want satellite TV sorted at the same time, just mention it when you book and we'll quote both together.
Frequently asked questions
Do you install Starlink on farms and wine estates, not just houses?
Yes. A good number of our Starlink installs are on farms, guesthouses and wine estates around Franschhoek, where the property is large and one router in the main house was never going to reach the cottages or the cellar office.
Where does the dish actually get mounted?
Wherever it gets the cleanest view of the sky, which is not always the roof. We check for obstructions from trees, gables and neighbouring buildings first, then decide between a roof mount, a wall bracket or a freestanding pole before anything gets drilled.
Will Starlink still work when the power is out?
With a UPS sized correctly for the dish and router, yes. We can wire this in as part of the install so your connection rides through load-shedding without you having to reboot anything once the power comes back.
Can you combine a Starlink install with a DSTV setup?
Yes, this is a common combo booking for us. We can mount the Starlink dish and the DSTV dish on the same visit, run both cable paths neatly, and set up your decoder and router so the household just works.
Do you cover WiFi coverage beyond the router that comes with Starlink?
Yes. Where the stock router does not reach far enough, we integrate mesh access points so the signal actually reaches the guest cottage, the pool deck or the far end of the farmhouse.
How do I book an assessment?
Call or WhatsApp 079 754 5527 with your property details and we will confirm timing and the likely scope before we come out.
